Learn the odds behind every decision in India's favourite card game - from blind play to a perfectly timed show.
Teen Patti is played with a standard 52-card deck, giving 22,100 possible three-card hands. The chance of being dealt a trail (three of a kind) is just 0.24%, while a pair appears about 16.9% of the time. Knowing this, you can judge the strength of your hand before you place a bet.
High card hands - those with no pair, sequence or colour - make up nearly 74% of all deals. That is why bluffing is such a central part of the game.
Blind players only need to put in half the stake that seen players must match. This gives blind players a cost advantage but you give up information. A common rule of thumb is to stay blind until the pot reaches 8x the boot, then take a look.
Seen players should pack (fold) any hand below a Queen-high without a pair, unless the table is very tight.
When only two players remain, either can ask for a show. If you hold a pair of eights or better, requesting a show is often the best option - particularly against an aggressive opponent who has been raising blind.
Avoid showing with a low pair against a player who has been calling at every step; they are most likely holding a stronger hand.
Never play with more than 5% of your session bankroll in a single hand. Teen Patti is a high-variance game, and even the best strategy loses to a lucky trail from time to time.
Set a time limit and a loss limit before you sit down - and stick to both.
"True gaming mastery lies in understanding the variance, respecting your bankroll, and savouring the elegance of every decision at the felt."

Extremely well-explained strategy. The tips on hand odds and bankroll caps made an immediate difference at my last session.
Glad to hear that, Rohan! Looking forward to welcoming you back to the Mandovi floor this weekend.
